Hunar Banaras is not a label that appeared overnight. It is a lineage, a third-generation weaving and manufacturing house, born and raised in the lanes of Banaras itself, where the rhythm of the handloom has never once fallen silent within our family. What began as our grandfather's craft became our father's calling, and today it rests in the hands of three brothers of the Anwar family, each of us carrying forward what was entrusted to us, thread by thread, generation by generation. We are not distributors of Banarasi weaving. We are Banarasi weavers.
Straight From Us, To You
For too long, the finest Banarasi work has passed through a maze of middlemen and self-styled "boutiques" before it ever reaches the person who will actually wear it every hand along the way adding cost, and quietly, distance. Hunar Banaras exists to close that distance. We deal with our customers directly, the way our family always has, so that what arrives at your door is exactly what left our looms nothing added, nothing diluted, and nothing marked up by hands that never touched a single thread of it.
Our Vision
Our vision is bigger than any single saree or single sale. We want the world to see Banarasi weaving the way we see it not as a regional craft tucked away in one city, but as one of the great textile arts, deserving a place on the global stage. Every piece we bring forward through this platform is our attempt to carry that art beyond Banaras, and beyond India, to anyone, anywhere, who knows what real craftsmanship looks like when they see it.
Tales of Hunar
None of this exists without the Karigars , the artisans whose hands do the work no machine will ever replace. We believe they are not simply workers behind our brand; they are the backbone of everything Banarasi weaving has ever been, and everything it will ever become. That belief is why we built Tales of Hunar, a dedicated space on Instagram where we step back and let the real weavers speak for themselves: their skill, their patience, their lives so the world finally meets the hands behind every heirloom.
Where Heritage Meets What's Next
We also believe tradition was never meant to stand still. Alongside our classical weaves, we're building a fusion of Banarasi craftsmanship with western silhouettes living proof that centuries-old artistry and modern style were never really strangers to begin with. It is one more step toward a larger goal: making sure the world doesn't just admire Banarasi weaving from a distance, but wears it everywhere, on every continent, in every wardrobe it belongs in.
